General Remarks
Sunderlands has kind instructions to offer about 39 acres in one large field for growing potatoes in the 2024 season.
The recent cropping for the main area of the field has been:
2023 herbage
2022 herbage
2021 herbage
2020 barley
2019 wheat
2018 potatoes.
The three acre sling between the woods has been in a conservation area under CSS but this ends as at 31 December 2023 and so will be incorporated back into the field.
Recommended access is along the track from Newton Court that runs alongside the field to the south but there may be access for some equipment along the second track that leads from the Luntley Road.
Access to the land is from 25 March. The field will be let for winter keep over the winter.
Prospective growers should satisfy themselves as to the net area of the field that can be planted prior to making a tender and then tender as a lump sum making any allowance that they consider necessary for boundary margins and similar. The total RPA eligible area is 16.31 ha (40.30 acres).
Terms and Conditions
1. The Tenant will be required to sign a Licence as prepared by the Agents. This will commence on 25 March 2024 and terminate on 15th October 2024.
2. The licence fee will be paid in two equal instalments on 25 March and 1st September 2024.
3. The Tenant shall be responsible for maintaining the land in good agricultural and environmental condition and to leave the land clear and in a suitable condition for the owner to plant a subsequent autumn crop.
